Chris Whitley - All his cd's I own
Drive-By Truckers - "Southern Rock Opera"
The first cd from Athens, Georgia based Drive-By Truckers that I bought. Wow ... this one still does it for me. A two-disc essay on the duality of being southern in a modern world .... growing up in segragated Alabama in the Wallace era and learning to embrace your heritage without embracing the hate and negative aspects .... all set to a grinding southern rock soundtrack! Should have won a Grammy!
Brand new disc from King's X .... "Ogre Tones" is arguably their strongest effort in the last 5 years. Hasn't been out of my player since it came out in late September. Catch them on tour this winter and next spring if you can!
Still my favorite disc by one of my favorite bands. The Cult aren't doing anything at the moment ... but a reunion has been hinted at online recently. This is one of those classic cd's that just begs to be played at maximum volume!!
Might Could - "All Intertwined"
Phenomenal disc by Maryland based Might Could .... a four-piece instrumental guitar group. Wow ... very hard to describe. Neo-classical, rockin' .... jazzy ..... acoustic guitar in ensemble format .... I would love to see these guys live!!!
